It's a winning bet for the HPC for SMEs Initiative! Launched in 2010 by Bpifrance [1], GENCI and Inria [2], this unique initiative in France was targeted on facilitating the "switch to numerical simulation" in order to assist SMEs in increasing their competitiveness, creating new jobs and innovation. After five years and more than fifty SMEs supported, the HPC for SMEs Initiative has proven its credential to the point that the French government is going to invest in this approach in order to extend it through the regions, closer to SMEs.

As a matter of fact, spreading the use of numerical simulation within small and mid-sized enterprises is one of the actions undertaken in the « Industrie du futur » programme, 2nd phase of the 'Nouvelle France Industrielle', presented by Emmanuel Macron, French ministry of Economie, Industrie et Numérique, on the 18 May 2015 in Nantes.

The implementation of this action has been given to GENCI [3] and Teratec [4]. In the context of their common answer in June 2014 to the Call for Expressions of Interest (CEI) relating to the spread of numerical simulation (Programme Investissements d’Avenir), GENCI and Teratec will make available a global offer, both national and regional, with tailor-made and off-the-shelf solutions. This project includes the extension in the regions of the HPC for SMEs Initiative, through the creation of regional platforms. It is scheduled to be launched durant the fall semester 2015.
