4 French SMEs are among the 11 winners of the 2nd call for applications launched by PRACE's SHAPE programme (SME HPC Adoption Programme in Europe).

Based on the model of the French HPC-SME Initiative, led by BpifranceGENCI and Inria, the objective of SHAPE is to facilitate the take-up of HPC by innovative SMEs in Europe.

Among the 4 French awarded SMEs, 3 have already benefited from the support of the HPC-SME Initiative: Algo’Tech (softwares for electrical schematics and cabling), OpenOcean (products and services for marine renewable energies) and Principia (softwares and engineering for offshore industries). Being awarded by SHAPE lead them into the European HPC ecosystem and is the last step of their project with the HPC-SME Initiative.

The 4th French awarded SME, CybeleTech (agriculture), benefited from the support of Teratec, pole of competence in high performance simulation.

In order to strengthen their action, GENCI and Teratec answered together, on June 2014, to the call for expression of interest led by the "Future Investments programme" for disseminating numerical simulation in French industry. Their objective: to boost the take-up of numerical simulation and HPC by French SMEs by making available a global offer, which would be both national and regional, with custom and off-the-shelf solutions.

3 Italian SMEs, 1 for Germany, 1 from Spain, 1 from Finland and 1 from Switzerland are also among the 11 winners of SHAPE's call for applications.
