Among the 48 awarded projects at the end of the PRACE 10th call for proposals, 12 are led by French scientists, meaning that France is one more time the 1st beneficiary country. And among the 3 awarded projects led with industrials, there is a collaboration between the Direction des sciences de la matière of CEA (CEA/DSM) and STMicroelectronics.
Globally, 127 projects had applied and more than 3 billion core hours had been requested (for a total amount of 1 billion core hours available). Once again, the Curie supercomputer, operated by the CEA at TGCC, has been one of the most sought-after system.
The 48 awarded projects (37,8%) received a one-year allocation, from March 2015 to March 2016.
PRACE has also reinforced its support to large scale instruments and European initiatives in various fields, such as ENES and EC_EARTH (climatology); ESO, the Herschel Telescope and Van Allen Belt Probes (astrophysics); CERN/LHC (particle physics); LASERLAB-EUROPE (theoretical physics) and the Human Brain Project (modeling of the entire brain).
