Infra project manager (M/F) within the Operations team
Presentation of GENCI
GENCI (Grand équipement national de calcul intensif) has the mission of democratizing the use of digital simulation through high-performance computing associated with the use of artificial intelligence and quantum, to support French scientific and industrial competitiveness. It coordinates the implementation of the national strategy for high-performance computing and data storage/processing, combined with artificial intelligence, for the benefit of the French scientific community. It officially represents France in the European research infrastructure (PRACE), participates in the European EuroHPC initiative and promotes digital simulation, in particular HPC, to academic and industrial researchers.
Presentation of the Operations division
The main mission of the "Operations" division is to ensure the ongoing operation of GENCI's computing time allocation process. Its main objective is to ensure that users of GENCI resources are satisfied, and therefore to continuously optimize the choice of computers, the allocation process and the use of machines in relation to scientific needs. To achieve this, the "Operations" division is in direct and constant contact with the operators of the national centers, supercomputer manufacturers and users.
Position duties
Positioned under the authority of the GENCI Operations Manager, his/her main mission will be to assist the Operations Manager on:
- active participation in GENCI's equipment purchasing processes (machines and storage) as well as their installations;
- steering and monitoring the operation of GENCI's supercomputers installed in the 3 national computing centers on technical aspects;
- participate in actions aimed at identifying the needs of the national open research scientific communities (academic and industrial), in liaison with the centers, and in their implementation (access mode, allocation mode, new needs) in terms of HPC, AI or quantum uses;
- develop, implement and monitor user services (usability, center access, security, etc.) in liaison with the three national computing centers.) in conjunction with the 3 national computing centers;
- the rigorous monitoring of the entire process of allocating computing hours for researchers (currently ISO9001 certified) on GENCI's national resources in collaboration with the allocation project manager;
- the strengthening of inter-computing center collaboration (national and regional and ultimately European) and of the collective dynamic in order to continue the urbanization of the supercomputing ecosystem.
