Activity report 2022: at the cutting edge of HPC, quantum computing and AI

In this edition of GENCI's activity report, you'll find out more about the Exascale supercomputer project (TGCC), the arrival of the Adastra machine (CINES), the extension of Jean Zay (IDRIS) to serve artificial intelligence projects such as Bloom (language model) or Nukkai (explainable AI), the arrival of quantum technology with HQI France, and the order of the first 100-qubit quantum machine from startup PASQAL via an innovative Franco-German purchasing procedure.

13 December 2022

Other highlights of 2022 include the ISO9001 certification of GENCI's computing hours allocation procedure, the regional Mesonet project currently being rolled out, and the Gordon Bell Prize awarded last November for the first time to French teams, including GENCI.

High-performance computing in the service of science and innovation is GENCI's raison d'être. That's why in this document you'll be able to discover and explore results from researchers in both academic and industrial fields, using national computing resources, in all fields (climate, health, materials, energy, AI, biology, astrophysics, mathematics, SHS, fundamental physics, etc.).

Many thanks to all the teams at the national and regional centers, to all the researchers using our computing resources, and to all the players in our ecosystem, our 5 associates, EuroHPC, Prace, the GENCI teams…
