The development of a numerical wind tunnel made it possible to fly a model drone at a speed of 2.5 meters per second (9 km/h). Simulations have shown that the drone's flight mechanisms for
creating lift are robust even in strong turbulence, as no additional energy is required. Nevertheless, controlling turbulence remains a challenge for the drone, but not from an energetic point of view.
The flight of the bumblebee
The flight of the bumblebee is proving to be a mine of information for the design of new generations of micro-aerial vehicles.
