    To better understand how one turbine affects the efficiency of another turbine placed in its wake, scientists from Rome's Institute of Marine Engineering - CNR INM - recently carried out large-scale simulations using PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) resources to analyze the flow of a turbine's wake.     Le sillage d'une turbine se caractérise par de puissants tourbillons hélicoïdaux provenant de l'extrémité des pales de la turbine en rotation. Dès que ces tourbillons d'extrémité commencent à devenir instables et à se briser, le sillage devient plus étroit et se mélange avec le courant d'eau environnant, et la vitesse d'écoulement commence à se rétablir.
