Project & issues
The CEVAA, a 6NAPSE Group design office specializing in acoustics and mechanics, offers its testing resources and expertise to Industry. Finite element numerical simulation is a major tool, with various specialized software packages and a dedicated team of engineers.
In 2021, CEVAA has been asked to study the mechanical strength of a dam. With scales ranging from centimeters to several tens of meters, taking into account multiphysical loadings (temperature, pressure, forces), in-house calculation resources were then insufficient to carry out the study.
Resources & solutions
The study was carried out on CRIANN's Myria computer using Code_Aster software for calculations and Salome-Meca for meshing and post-processing.
The project benefited from advanced support from CRIANN, with the installation of the latest sequential and parallel versions of Code_Aster (versions 13 and 14), then assistance in creating the scripts to launch the calculations.
Several dozen calculations were launched on 8 CPU cores and 120 GB of memory.

Results
In the case of the dam illustrated above, it was the memory requirements that prevented the study from being carried out on our servers. In addition, the use of Myria made it possible to run several simulations simultaneously, and to obtain a lead time in line with the customer's needs.
Finally, the remote visualization service makes it possible to carry out pre- and post-processing operations very smoothly on the ECU, without having to move the data.
SIMSEO services make it possible to carry out large-scale customer projects, with a significant gain in productivity.

As part of the Investissements d'Avenir program, the Commissariat Général aux Investissements has entrusted GENCI and Teratec with the implementation of the SiMSEO program to diffuser the use of simulation within Small and Medium-sized Enterprises on a national level.
The program is supervised by the DGE (Direction Générale des Entreprises) and funded by BPI France.
